28 year old Illinois State Trooper, James Sauter, was reportedly killed on March 29, 2013 in a fiery collision on Interstate 294.  Tpr. Sauter had reportedly pulled over a vehicle and was parked on the shoulder of the road, when his patrol vehicle was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer.  More detail on the collision is not presently available, but the facts currently known would strongly indicate that this horrible crash was the result of inattention or other error on the part of the driver of the tractor trailer.  Our hearts go out to the family of Tpr. Sauter and to the thousands of others who are tragically injured or killed every year by the negligent operation of commercial vehicles on our nation’s roadways.
