Police have reportedly charged a 44 year old NY truck driver with careless driving following an accident on March 30, 2012 on I-78 in Pennsylvania.  According to reports, the driver fell asleep at the wheel and collided with another truck.

In an effort to minimize the potential for this very type of accident, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration places strict limits on the number of hours Commercial tractor trailer operators can operate their vehicles.  Unfortunately, these important safety regulations are often ignored or blatantly violated by unscrupulous truckers and trucking companies.
